What I love most about Urban Studios for family sessions is how open and relaxed the space feels. Kids have room to move. Parents don’t feel cramped. And the natural light means photos have that soft, organic quality — not the harsh, over-lit look that puts people off studio sessions in the first place.
Every booking is private, so it’s just your family and us. No waiting rooms full of strangers, no sharing space with another session.

2. The Brick Lofts — Ozark, MO
If you’re looking for something with more warmth and texture, The Brick Lofts in Ozark is worth the short drive south of Springfield. Loft 109B is the photography studio space — and it is stunning. Exposed brick walls, 12-foot ceilings, refinished original wood floors, large east-facing windows draped in soft sheers, and an industrial staircase made from recycled bleachers that gives the whole space a distinctly editorial character.
This space photographs beautifully. The brick and wood tones bring warmth that you just can’t replicate with a plain backdrop, and the window light is incredible — soft, directional, and flattering on every skin tone. For families who want something that feels more like a lifestyle editorial than a traditional studio portrait, The Brick Lofts delivers that effortlessly.
The space is nestled on the second story of a historic building on Ozark Square, giving it a tucked-away, intimate feel. They also have a designated newborn room — purpose-built for those early sessions that require warmth, privacy, and a calm environment — making this one of the best-equipped spaces in the area for newborn photography. And if outfit planning feels overwhelming, their client closet rental is a game changer. Access to curated, ready-to-wear pieces means one less thing to stress about before your session.

3. In-Home Family Sessions
This one doesn’t get nearly enough credit — and it’s honestly one of my favorite ways to photograph families.
An in-home session is exactly what it sounds like: we photograph your family in your own home, in the spaces where you actually live. The kitchen where you make Sunday breakfast. The living room where everyone piles onto the couch. The bedroom where the kids come crawling in on Saturday mornings.
These sessions have a quality that no studio can replicate — they feel real. The connection, the comfort, the little details of your everyday life together. And for families with young children especially, there’s something powerful about being photographed in a space where your kids are already at ease.
In-home sessions also remove a lot of the logistical stress. No one has to get in the car. No one melts down in a parking lot. You’re already home.
Best for: Families with babies, toddlers, or multiple young children. Families who want documentary-style, lifestyle images. Anyone who wants photos that feel deeply personal and true to who they are.
Good to know: You don’t need a perfectly decorated or spotless home for an in-home session. We work with what you have, and natural window light does most of the heavy lifting. Just be yourselves — that’s the whole point.
