It’s a question almost every bride asks me when we start chatting through wedding photography packages:
“Do I really need a second shooter?”
The honest answer? Not always.
But here’s the truth I share with every couple I meet: it’s not about what’s “necessary” as much as it is about being realistic with your wedding day and the kinds of photos you’re dreaming of.
If you’re planning a smaller, more intimate wedding day—think minimal wedding party, a single location, and a slower pace—then one photographer (me!) can absolutely capture your story fully.
I’ve documented many weddings solo, and it allows me to move intentionally, focus on connection, and still give you every heartfelt, raw, and real image you’ve been hoping for.
There are, however, some scenarios where having a second shooter makes all the difference.
✨ Large wedding parties – When your wedding party is 10+ on each side, timelines get tight. Having a second photographer means we can split coverage and make sure nothing is missed.
✨ Different getting-ready locations – Maybe you’re with your bridesmaids at a cozy Airbnb while your fiancé is at a family home across town. With two photographers, you’ll both have those meaningful pre-ceremony moments captured at the same time.
✨ Multiple angles of the same moment – Think about the first kiss. With a second shooter, you’ll not only have that front-and-center shot, but also the perspective of your guests tearing up in the pews.
✨ Fast-paced timelines – If your schedule is packed tight, a second photographer can ensure we capture the candid in-betweens while I focus on the big moments.
A second shooter isn’t about “more photos”—it’s about more perspectives. It’s about depth, dimension, and being able to tell your story in a way that feels layered and complete.
If you’re having a smaller celebration, rest assured that I can capture it all without extra hands. But if your day is grand, bustling, and full of moving pieces, investing in a second shooter may be one of the wisest choices you make for your photography coverage.
Whether you book me solo or choose a package with a second photographer, my goal remains the same: to give you images that feel like memories—sentimental, raw, and full of truth.
So, when you’re deciding, don’t think about whether it’s “necessary.” Instead, think about your day, your people, and your vision for how you want it remembered. And then we’ll craft the coverage that fits just right.
👉 If you’re still unsure, let’s chat about your wedding day plans. I’ll help you decide what will serve your story best—because you deserve photography that feels as timeless as the love you’re celebrating.
