Here’s my go-to guide for building a stress-free, golden-light-filled timeline that captures everything you care about most.
Why Does a Photography Timeline Even Matter?
A solid timeline = less stress, more magic.
It helps you stay present and ensures we don’t miss the in-between, emotional, unscripted moments you’ll treasure forever. It also keeps things on track with your other vendors (like your makeup artist or venue coordinator).
A Sample Wedding Photography Timeline
(for a 8 hour coverage package, adjusted for sunset lighting in Missouri during Fall)

12:30 PM – Getting Ready
Details (dress, shoes, invitation suite), candid moments with your people, final hair & makeup touch-ups.
1:45 PM – First Look (Optional)
A private, emotional moment just for you two — and it also gives us more portrait time earlier in the day. This can also be something you do with your father, bridesmaids, etc.
2:15 PM – Couple Portraits
Golden hour is ideal, but we’ll also capture natural, documentary-style portraits during this window.
2:45 PM – Wedding Party Photos
We’ll capture group shots and fun candids before guests arrive.
3:15 PM – Family Photos
Best done before the ceremony, when everyone’s fresh and present.
4:00 PM – Ceremony
Time for the “I do’s!” I’ll capture every tear, laugh, and glance.
4:30 PM – Post-Ceremony Hugs & Just-Married Glow
You’ll be swarmed by love — I document these joyful, unrehearsed moments.
5:00 PM – Golden Hour Portraits
Missouri sunsets in spring and fall? Unreal. We sneak away for 15-30 minutes to soak it in and shoot while guests enjoy cocktail hour.
5:30 PM – Reception Begins
Grand entrance! First dances, toasts, dinner, and cake cutting — I’ll capture the story as it unfolds.
7:30 PM – Dance Floor & Exit
Let the party begin! Fun dance floor images and end with a fun exit with sparklers, bubbles, etc.
8:30 PM – Photographers Leaves
Tips for a Seamless Wedding Day:
- Build in buffer time. Hair always runs late. Traffic happens. We’ll pad your schedule accordingly.
- Designate a photo helper. Have someone help gather family members during group shots.
- Talk with your photographer early. I work with all my couples to create a custom timeline that feels true to their day, not just a checklist.
